15 Best Western Gift Ideas for Cowboys, Cowgirls & Country Folks

When it comes to gift-giving, Western folks are a little different. We don’t care for trinkets that wear out in a season. We want gear with grit — gifts that tell a story, serve a purpose, and carry the feel of the West.

That’s why we pulled together this list of 15 Western gift ideas. You’ll find hand-forged iron and leather goods made right here in our Montana shop, along with a few other unique finds from small sellers we admire. Whether you’re shopping for a birthday, Christmas, or “just because,” these gifts are built to last and sure to be remembered.

For Him

When you’re hunting for a gift that a cowboy or country man will actually use, skip the shelf fillers and go straight for gear that’s tough, useful, and carries a story. These picks are made to earn a place in the shop, office, or saddlebag.

Forged right here in our Montana shop, these padded hooks hold their weight. Folks use them for rifles, shotguns, or even a coiled lariat by the mudroom door. The twist in the iron adds strength and character, each turn showing the bite of the hammer and the hand of the smith. Padding protects the finish of your items, and the solid steel build means these hooks are ready to carry their load season after season.

Intro to Rawhide Braiding with Scott Gore

Intro to Rawhide Braiding with Scott Gore

A gift doesn’t always have to be gear. Sometimes the best gift is the chance to learn a cowboy skill from a true craftsman. Scott Gore teaches the art of rawhide braiding at Be A Maker School, helping students carry forward one of the most practical and storied traditions in the West.

The course is offered through monthly membership options:

Dabbler – $47/month – includes two new video lessons each month (one released every 14 days). Videos remain available only while the subscription is active.

Doer – $127/month – expanded access and resources for those who want to go deeper.

Dedicated – $247/month – the full experience, with the most support and materials included.

For gift-giving, the Dabbler level makes the most sense. It’s affordable, flexible, and opens the door for someone to start learning rawhide braiding without a big upfront commitment.

Enrollment for this course opens October 1st, making it a timely gift that’s as rugged and authentic as the West itself.
